I figured I would post photos of the other major pieces of art that I sold during the Open Studio Tour, and maybe this time I can get the photos to come out alright!?

I think it's a bonus when the art that sells is the art you really like.

In a way it is sad, because I can't keep them anymore, but like a child who is grown and flown: that was the idea to begin with, you can't regret it...

Someone at my work didn't believe me since everything in town is all green..

but there's the proof! The color up in my neck of the woods is Phenominal!!!
Just in time for Open Studio!
(I've been sick for several days..but I am much better now, and ready for a bout of ART!)

10 Monoprints
2 Blockprints
1 Collage
 As well as 6 Sculptures

13 unframed monoprints and multiple prints and Cards.

Here I sit, the signs are up, and I'm going to mix some OIL Paint!
YAY!

What is the Old Belvidere Schoolhouse Studio?

 Well, ultimately it's my home.
For this weekend only I am opening the groundfloor to the public to take a look at all of my art in one place, and to get to see some of the processes used to creat it.

But why drive this far North?

The road to get there in the Autumn is IDEAL!

I guess it depends on your point of view.

Some would call it a money pit, my Father calls it my albatross....

I've been working at the store a lot lately,

 & I've been very inspired by my customers, with no time to act on it.

I've even managed to have a 24 hour flu, or food poisoning (one or the other)

during one of my precious few Sunday's off, so it was spent trying to burn off a fever.

There is still so much to do for Open Studio!

100 Maps are distributed...

I have somehow managed to nearly finish 3 separate bear sculptures, although admittedly, they were half done already. I just need to do some retouch & clear coating.

I have promised myself

that by the time the signs are out, and the doors are open,

 for Vermont Crafts Council's Foliage Open Studio

I will have mixed a big and brand new batch of oil paint, and I'll be painting during the show.

But until then I will try to update more about the ongoing art projects...

Map Distribution..

I have Maps at 6 locations now, 10 per location, so 60 (of my over 200) maps are out there!

What's in the Map?

 If you did go to the Vermont Crafts Council's website showing the Foliage Open Studio Map link in my previous post, you will have seen that Chittenden county has tons of artists, but my county, Lamoille, is grouped together with three others, because there are only 4 artists listed here.

I know there are more artists in this area, and I thought of inviting some of them, but decided to try it by myself first - and start learning how to do it right, before I complicate it further.
I am lucky to have heard many stories of Open Studio expiriences, because of my work at Artists' Mediums Inc., but there is still an awful lot I need to do.

Difficult, because I am working open to close Fri., Sat., & Mon.then normal hours Tues through Saturday.
So sunday is my big day to get alot done.

 I am getting one thing done...
Perhaps showing images of my art could be the best way to find folks who'd like it.
For this reason, I am Making inserts / invites to put in the copies of Foliage Open Studio Maps that I now need to distribute all over. (and Lamolle is a BIG AREA.) I guess my work is cut out for me!

There are over 50 oils, several Watercolors (they are mostly, but not all landscapes)
I only said prints, even though I do Blockprints and Monoprints...
I have some sculptures in progress that I'm going to try to finish this month...

Two of the monoprints were good enough to frame for the Open Studio Exhibit.
This brings the total number of pieces of art for display and sale at this show up to 64!!
...getting there.

Monoprints Everywhere!

This week I have printed over 60 monoprints.

This means I will have approximately 6-12 that are good enough to frame or sell if I am lucky...

and a bunch of scraps I can recycle into business cards I think...

Just didn't want to let the week go by without posting that I AM working on art!

Well, I know I haven't written for a bit, but I have done some art since the Plein air Fest...

I have several more to do tonight.
It looks easy, but for every 12-20 I print, there are only (usually) about 2 or 3 worth framing...
(That uses a lot of really nice paper, and so my note paper pile is looking really cool!)

One from my last session was really nice, and I have already framed it.
The catalog of art is coming along as well... up to 50 peices of art so far for the Open Studio show.

We pick up the maps for Open Studio Thurs Aug 18th, so I should be able to provide a link to the maps soon.

I Am Posting these Photos again, because now I have the correct spelling of the names of the fabulous organizers who made this whole event possible.

The Plein air Festival was wonderful!                                          

 I had a GREAT time and was impressed by the magnificent work done by all the organizers, and volunteers!

 

 Gorgeous weather, friendly people...

I was also quite humbled by the talented people, that I was blessed to spend the day with!

 

I think many one of us would gladly do it again.
Thank you to The Organizers: Barbara Greene, Emilie G Alexander, and Jane Morgan, everyone who participated, everyone who came to view the art, and of course The Emille Gruppe Gallery, The Barber Farm, well as all the volunteers & sponsors!

Getting ready for a big art show.

I thought I might not have much to do, but I've barely begun!'
Catalog-ing Art...Is that a word?
 I am Actually making a complete list of ALL my art in preparation for the Fall Open Studio.



 The River in my backyard, A painting which my Brother (Jeff) owns.

 I HAD intended on just posting a lot of photos of art, but after wrinting bunches of descriptions, I decided a small photo with the title will make it far easier for me to track.
So with that in mind, I spent most of my weekend sorting, listing, checking the back to see if they are framed properly, and Typing into an Excell program all the info on each piece of art.

I also did some seriously needed retouch painting on the main floor main room of the house.
(So many years of stacking firewood inside had scratched the paint badly, which wouldn't be a problem except the flourescent green that showed through was unnervingly bright!)

A Day off!

After the Plein air fest I went to Lammoile county field days....
too tired to think of taking photos , although I ate a ton of Faire food!
Yesterday, I did some mowing -and in the evening John & I took a ride around this gorgeous North country,

and I took several more photos from which to paint.

Still unpacking.

 Here are the works I showed during the reception.

Since I am so accustomed to oils, I really overworked them.

The willow was a little better...

I know I can do better, so I kinda don't want to put away the watercolors, just yet.

I'm going to have to put some things away though, there is art stuff spread all over this house.

...and I still should finish mowing ....

After picking blueberries in the yard yesterday, I am also convinced I need to make Blueberry muffins.

I didn't mix any Oils last night

So if I don't get to it tonight,
 I'll just have to muddle through with Watercolors!
Ah, Life!

Just about ready for the Plein air Festival

Almost ready for the Plein Air Fest.
I got more bug spray, I even bought a straw hat..which I hope I remember to wear..

I'm A little nervous..only because I never paint outside and there's going to probably be a lot of people there!
So what can I do, that would be the best challenge for myself to stop taking it so seriously?
Might as well knock myself completely off-balance:

First, skip the acrylics, use the Watercolors mostly. (I rarely paint in Watercolors.)

(Only if I find the time tonight,or tomorrow night, will I mix a batch of oils, -as backup only- since I am most comfortable with oils..)
I do usually paint Landscapes.
If it's a REAL challenge, maybe I should try to paint the people participating?
Will any permit it?
(I can gaurantee they wont' be very representational. I almost never do portriats.)
So this should be fun!
